The Appellant/Plaintiff filed suit for recovery of damages against the Defendant/Respondent for his defamation and mental torture by Urdu Drama Serial “Saza or Jaza” telecasted by the Respondent, wherein the appellant has been adorned as Shakeel by showing him as a corrupt and cruel Bureaucrat. Counsel for the appellants argued that appellant was shocked, mentally tortured and suffered immense loss of reputation in every circle of the society and had to go through lot of trouble. It was stated that allegations leveled by the Respondent are utterly false and made purposely to defame. From the evidence recorded it was held that the character of Shakeel as shown in the play refers to the Appellant/Plaintiff and the Plaintiff has proved defamation at the hands of Respondent up to the hilt through sufficient and oral evidence. The suit was decreed in favor of the Appellant and against the Defendant to the tune of Rs. 7 lac.
